Part of Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah, the Half Marathon Training Program is a 12-week program meeting three times a week and is designed to prepare runners/walker for their first ever endurance event or to help seasoned runners meet a new performance goal. Whether you're striving to cross the finish line for the first time or looking to PR the half marathon distance, this program will educate you on endurance training principles, hydration and nutrition techniques, body awareness, pacing and running anatomy.
The program starts Tuesday, Jan. 16, and meets three times a week during the training period (Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. and Saturday at 7 a.m.) The workouts will last about an hour to an hour and a half as we increase mileage throughout the season. In addition to the workouts there are educational seminars, motivational speakers, newsletters keeping you up to date, group support, free injury screening through Ledesma Sports Medicine, fun runs, catered breakfast every few months, and expert coaching/mentoring to help inspire and motivate you on this training journey.
All participants receive a Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah Half Marathon Training shirt. Thank you to Mizuno for providing the shirts and supporting our training!
The goal race for this training program is the Publix Savannah Women's Half Marathon, but you may join us to train even if you are not participating in this race.
