Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah's 5K Training Program is an eight-week program which meets three times a week. The goal race for this program is the 2018 Susan G. Komen Savannah Race for the Cure 5K, but you can use this program to train for any 5K. This program focuses on beginners, but all levels of runners and runners/walkers are welcome! This program is structured to help you cross the finish line of your first 5K or help existing walker/runners meet new performance goals. This program will educate on hydration and nutrition techniques, body awareness, choosing the right gear and avoiding injury. You can do this!
The group meets in person three times a week. The workouts will last about a half hour to an hour as mileage increases. In addition to the workouts there are weekly newsletters to keep you up to date, group support, free injury clinics through Ledesma Sports Medicine, and expert coaching to inspire and motivate you on this training journey. Plus the camaraderie of others just like you!
All participants receive a Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah 5K Training shirt. Thank you to New Balance for providing the shirts and supporting our training!
5K Training Program Details:
This program is made for beginners or those wanting to start running or run/walking again. There are no requirements to join. We just ask that you start the program injury-free! Participants can be under 18; a parent/guardian must be a registered participant of the program as well. It is a safe, welcoming place for you to get fit, make friends, and have fun! Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah encourages you to exercise at your own comfortable pace and we are focused on YOUR success! Our past 5K training group participants had fun, enjoyed the challenges, lost weight, gained confidence and made new friends. And, most are still running; some increasing their distance, getting faster, staying fit and smiling!
Fleet Feet Running Club Savannah's 5K Training program has two different training plans based on your goals. You may always switch back and forth between groups based on how you feel and if you find the plan too easy or too hard.
The training schedule starts at smaller mileages and builds over the course of the program. It will never change suddenly or dramatically and you will always be well prepared for any increase distance.
