Toro-3-2-10

March 2, 2010

Well Toro Talk took a week off and went down to Daytona to see the 500 and spent some time running on and next to the beach. It's amazing how many ideas I get from watching events like the Daytona 500 with all of its color and pageantry. I am big fan of NASCAR especially because of the science behind its handling of the cars and the minuscule changes that they make to the cars. These changes either make a car fly around the track and win, or cause them to wind up into the wall. But along with all the science and technical aspects of NASCAR, I am also fond of all the happenings before, during and after the event. Although most of our local running events here are nowhere near the size of a NASCAR event (duh), I have taken what I can from NASCAR and have added a little or as much excitement with music, post race parties, and celebrations that give them a little more UMPH! than most events.

We will continue to bring you bigger and better running and walking events to Savannah and we will always be working on making all of our existing events better and better each year. As we continue to fill the calendar with the quality and variety that you deserve in this city of Savannah that is becoming a fairly large running town, we are creating rumbles and catching the attention of shoe companies and other races from across the country. I am currently working on bringing two fairly big running events to Savannah. Of course we are still in the early stages so I won't jinx it by telling you what they are. I can tell you that both are really cool, and one is huge and cool. I will keep you updated as we move closer and closer. So for Savannah and the Low Country, keep your fingers and toes crossed (but not while you're running), and put on your shades because the future of running in Savannah looks very bright.
