A big thank you to all of you that came out for the XC Kickoff Classic last Saturday in Daffin Park. It was a really fun event to put on and watch. Over 700 athletes from schools in the surrounding area and one team from Illinois competed against each other for team and individual titles. Because of budget cuts and travel restrictions that have hit high school XC teams we had a few less teams than last year. The good news though is that we had more runners than last year which says a lot for the coaches and parents as they recruit and train future runners. Great job to all the schools that came out, thank you to Saucony for sponsoring the event, The Savannah Sports Council for your support, and the host school Savannah Arts Academy with their incredible volunteer and school staff. Congrats to all, and see you next year for another “Run Dirty” Saturday.
Looking for another off road experience? Join us this Saturday at Ft. Pulaski for The Run for Jane. If you have never run at Ft. Pulaski this is your chance to come out and run around the fort and run some of the most pristine trails in the area. The 1st Annual Run for Jane presented by St. Josephs Candler and the Neurological Institute and Center for Spine is an added event to the St. Joseph’s Candler Leukemia Cup Regatta weekend of events. The Run for Jane will start at 8:30am on Saturday September 4th, and because it is at Ft. Pulaski please arrive early and get a parking spot. There will be a kids run on the grass near the fort, and rumor has it that there may be a cannon from Ft. Pulaski starting the event. Join us this Saturday at Ft. Pulaski for the 1st Annual Run for Jane as “Our Battle to Defeat Leukemia Continues….
