The History of Fleet Feet Sports Inc.
There’s a fit for each customer who walks through our doors, and we won’t stop until we find it. It’s the only way we know.
As a result, Fleet Feet Incorporated is the industry leader in franchising specialty footwear, apparel, and accessory stores focused on lifetime fitness sports. We’ve combined the strengths of individual entrepreneurship and cooperation to build a nationwide retail network with a focus on people and community.
Fleet Feet Sports began as a single store in Sacramento, California, opened by Sally Edwards and Elizabeth Jansen in 1976.  In 1980, the business partners responded to interest in the success of their store by offering franchises.  Sally led Fleet Feet, Incorporated for the following thirteen years, building the number of stores nationwide and developing a corporate staff headquartered in Sacramento.  Tom Raynor purchased Fleet Feet, Incorporated from Sally in 1993.  Under Tom's leadership, the company has grown to a very successful network of stores throughout the country, which receive support from a corporate staff located in Carrboro, NC. 

The History of Fleet Feet Sports Savannah
We opened March 2, 2002.  Robert and Cookie Espinoza moved to Savannah from Austin, TX to open their own store.  Robert had been working for Run Tex in Austin and had been a part of putting on major running events in the Austin area.  Robert hired Tricia White before the store opened, and it was just the two of them working the store together for the first 6 months.  Robert has created the running and fitness community you see today in Savannah.  We continue to strive every day to create a better, healthier, and fitter Savannah.

You’ll never find it in the dictionary, but you can find it alive and well in every Fleet Feet Sports, franchise. It’s the idea that when true fit is achieved, performance follows. At Fleet Feet Sports, Fitlosophy is much more than a process or procedure, it’s a way of doing business. And it’s why our customers keep coming back. We live, breathe, eat, and sleep FIT.  
Fitlosophy represents how Fleet Feet Sports conducts business, and our philosophy surrounding fit. A focus on fit surrounds everything we do including:
